What is a Chek Practitioner?

Updated: Aug 23, 2022

CHEK Practitioners are experts in Holistic Health Coaching which includes many different things like corrective exercise, high-performance training for athletes, postural correction, chakras, nutrition, lifestyle habits, and understanding of the relations we as humans have with the earth and universe. Humans are a collection of integrated systems that all affect one another in some way. Here are a few systems to name a few:

  • Central Nervous System

  • Musculoskeletal System

  • Lymphatic and Glymphatic Systems

  • Digestive System

A Holistic Health Coach is trained to see the relationships between the body's systems, is skilled at tracing injury or illness back to its true source, and has mastered program design techniques that focus on unwinding the root causes of their client's challenges. They are trained to do specific assessments and look at individualized applications of movement and exercise programs. The higher the level completed, the more practical knowledge and experience they will have. As CHEK Holistic Lifestyle Coaches, they are also well-rounded in wellness, stress management, and lifestyle coaching.

For example, if you have right shoulder pain that could be related to a physical injury, an emotional trauma in either that muscle group, a neck injury, or even a liver dysfunction. Another common example is knee pain. Knee pain is almost never actually caused at the knee itself but more of a lack of flexibility, stability, mobility, or strength at another area of the body such as the core, hips, or feet. This makes it important to assess the body from a root cause point of view rather than address the problem from a localized single view, and that is what a CHEK Practitioner does. This empowers the individual to thrive long into the future and can continue on their respective journey.

A Chek Practitioner works with people who have the desire to become more healthy. They also work with people who may have existing or pre-existing injuries, illnesses, or dysfunctions. We understand these types of ailments can hinder performance or cause injury later on - whether someone is an athlete or a stay-at-home mom.

The most comprehensive program in Holistic Health is the Chek system. When doing assessments they look at posture, length-tension muscle relationships, perform primal pattern movement screenings, biomechanics, nutritional and lifestyle screening, hormonal, emotional, and spiritual factors, and spinal pathologies. All of these assessments take place hopefully before an injury but commonly are done after.

Here at The Holistic Ape, Josh Blakley is our CHEK Practitioner. As a "Chekkie" he is placed in the top 10% of the health & fitness field worldwide and is widely demanded – and often a first choice – by professional athletes and sports teams, as well as celebrities and stunt trainers.

Again, they operate from the highest level of practical and clinical training and apply numerous techniques and assessments based on someone's individual makeup. It's important for them to also continue their education annually to stay up to date with the latest research, studies, practices, and techniques to best serve people.
